What we use
HouseHoot uses a small amount of browser storage to keep you in your game and, if you sign in, to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.

Usage analytics (no cookies)
We measure how HouseHoot is used with first-party, privacy-preserving analytics that set no cookies and use no third-party trackers. When a page loads or a game is played we record anonymous, aggregate signals: the type of device (phone, tablet or desktop), operating system and browser family, the country your network resolves to, and where a visit came from (the referring site or a campaign tag). To count unique visitors without identifying anyone, we derive a one-way hash from your IP address that rotates every day and cannot be reversed. We do not store your IP address, and none of this is linked to you personally or shared with anyone.
Why no consent banner?
The items above are strictly necessary to provide a service you asked for (playing a game or staying signed in), so under most privacy laws they do not require a consent banner. Our usage analytics are first-party, anonymous and set no cookies or optional identifiers, and we run no advertising or cross-site tracking.
Managing storage
You can clear or block cookies and site data at any time in your browser settings. Note that blocking the essential items above will stop sign-in from working and may interrupt an in-progress game.
